Collaboration builds capacity.
At The Storefront, residents play an important role in all aspects of day to day life, from preparing food to running workshops to volunteering at events.
Resident leaders are members of the KGO community who would like to do something to contribute to the community to support their neighbours. They come to us with an idea, and we work with them to bring that idea to life. The Storefront team provides physical space in our building, network connections, as well as project planning, coordination, evaluation and measurement and access to life stabilizing supports when needed.
The Storefront is an incubator for social good and community connection in Scarborough. Storefront staff support and program space for resident leadership is generously supported by donations - resident leaders do not pay for space or staffing.

Maria shares her love for organic gardening and sustainable living through fun activities, skill-building workshops and seed distribution.
Power of the mind
Dovie empowers her neighbours to harness the possibilities of their mindset as a positive force to shape their own destiny. She brings her vision to life through fashion and poetry workshops that build confidence, heal trauma, encourage personal growth and fire up self-expression for a resilient, confident and triumphant community.

William and Avi believe that enriching afterschool activities should be for every family! They offer free, student-led afterschool and summer activities for young people to reduce costs, and uplift economically disadvantaged families.

Sitra believes that everyone deserves dignified access to nutritius and culturally appropriate food. That’s why she created a network of community fridges and food hubs - no registration required.
seniors yoga
This longstanding program provides free, fun movement and fitness through yoga for seniors with one of the best soundtracks in town.
caribbean community connects
Barry believes that his neighbours deserve culturally rich meals made with love and respect. As a retired chef, he shares his skills and love through cooking workshops and a weekly meal service.

Agnes and Dave bring leaders in the community together to support each other, and to meet community goals. They are a dynamic, empowered and effective force for well-being and growth in KGO.
